Chocolate and Orange Self-Saucing Pudding

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for a Chocolate and Orange Self-Saucing Pudding. A while back, I baked this pudding. It was really successful and so I decided to bake it again but this time I flavoured it with one of my favourite flavour combinations - chocolate and orange!

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Self-Raising Flour
2. Caster Sugar
3. Baking Powder
4. Milk
5. Butter
6. Oranges
7. Eggs
9. Cocoa Powder
10. Boiling Water
11. Light Brown Sugar

Bismillah, let's begin!

Into the bowl of a Kitchen Aid mixer, place 4 and 1/2 ounces self-raising flour.

Add 2 and 1/2 ounces caster sugar and 1 and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.

Add 130 ml milk.

Add the juice and zest of 1/2 an orange.

Add 1 ounce cocoa powder.

Add 2 eggs.

Add 2 ounces melted butter.

Mix everything together in the mixer until smooth and creamy.

Pour the mixture into an ovenproof dish, cover with clingfilm and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

When you are ready to bake, place 1 and 1/2 ounce light brown sugar into a heatproof jug.

Add 1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder.

Add the juice of 1/2 an orange.

Add 200 ml boiling water, and stir to combine.

Pour the mixture over the chilled cake batter.

Bake in a preheated oven at Gas Mark 4 for 45 minutes.

Serve straight away on its own or with hot custard.

Wasalaam!
