Pizza Weekend + November Skies + Cookies Galore: 22 November - 28 November 2014

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

November comes,
And November goes,
With the last red berries,
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket,
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn,
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest,
Until next Spring.

Saturday: My mum made a delicious homemade pizza dough today by whisking together:
1/2 pint Milk, warm
1 tablespoon Butter, melted
7 grams Dried Yeast
1 tablespoon Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
4 tablespoons Plain Yoghurt
Then, she added approximately 24 ounces Self-Raising Flour until it a dough was formed.
She kneaded it for 5 minutes and then let rise, covered and in a warm place, until doubled in size.
While the dough rose, we enjoyed a few fresh clementines.
These are in season at the moment ...
... so I suggest you grab yourself a few and enjoy!
To top the pizza, I made this chicken topping and added chopped baby spinach leaves.
Saturday nights in November!
For the homemade pizzas , the dough was rolled out, and on went the spicy chicken ....
sweetcorn
sliced jalapeno chillies
sliced red bell pepper
... and my Mum's favourite - plenty of sliced tomatoes.
There can't be a pizza without cheese.
This was a mixture of Cheddar and Mozzarella, and a sprinkling of dried oregano.
Pizzas at home can become a bit of a production line.
The dough is the same ..
... and everyone can add their favourite toppings, and avoid those they're not too keen on. I'm not really an olive fan.
Sunday: More pizza today! This is one of my creations - tomato and basil sauce, cheese and jalapeno slices.
One of my mother's creations!
She loves putting on thick slices of tomato.
I preferred mine though - a thin crust with plenty of simple flavours.
Monday: This morning, there was frost outside. I love days that begin like this - the sky is always so beautiful.

The flowers on my desk looked even prettier in the morning light too.
It was so cold today, so we made hot chocolate.
Hot chocolate powder and milk was boiled together.
Poured into adorable mugs.
Sprinkled with ground cinnamon.

And, enjoyed with a cookie!

Today, Mum made a Lentil and Pumpkin Curry.

It was so creamy and perfectly spiced - just what we needed!
I roasted carrots and potatoes.
Tossed with olive oil, salt, pepper and cumin seeds.
Onto a baking tray and into a 200 degree (Gas 5) to roast for 30 minutes or until tender.
And, golden brown and crispy!

For something sweet, persimmon.

Any fruit that comes with a built in star is a favourite of mine!
Tuesday: Soup day! Ingredients laid for a butternut squash soup.
And, I finally used this cannelloni that had been in the cupboard for a while.
So pretty! But my Mum insisted on calling them lasagne!
Update: Here is the recipe.
Wednesday: Ingredients out for what turned out to be one of my favourite cookies so far.
And, these nesting bowls made an appearance!

What kind of cookie do you think these are? Let me know in the comments!
Update: Here is the recipe.
Today, Mum cooked a Chicken Curry. The onions were softening.
She added fresh tomatoes this time, and the usual spices.

The curry was finished with fresh jalapeno peppers and it was really yummy.
You can find a similar recipe here.
Thursday: No pictures from today! Am I the only who wants it to snow?
And, who loves Ferrero Rocher?

Friday: Another cookie session today!
They were gluten-free, filled with plenty of warming spices and will be coming to this blog soon!
