Creamy Mango Milkshake.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Ramadan wouldn't be Ramadan without mango milkshake at Iftar.

Seriously, I think I've made a jug of the stuff everyday since Ramadan began. We love it in our house and cannot get enough.

I have a few rules when it comes to mango milkshake though. It must be made fresh and enjoyed straight away. And, it must be made with the sweet yellow mangoes from India and Pakistan.
However, if you cannot get hold of them, I suppose other mangoes would do. Just about.

This creamy milkshake is a staple in our house at this time of year. And, with only four ingredients used, it's the easiest thing ever. Simply blend mango flesh with milk, sugar and vanilla ice cream. We prefer Cornish which gives it an incredibly thick consistency.

Along with dates and cold water, this milkshake is usually what I break my fast with. The famous Hadith always come to mind at Iftar time:
Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, said:
Fasting (is exclusively) meant for Me and I would give its reward. There are two (occasions) of joy for the observer of the fast. He feels joy when he breaks his fast and he is happy when he meets Allah.
By Allah in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the breath of the observer of the fast is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk.
Keep me and the whole Ummah in your prayers at Iftar time and enjoy breaking the fast with my creamy mango milkshake. I hope it becomes a Ramadan tradition in your house too.

A Simple List of Ingredients:
1. Sweet Mangoes
2. Caster Sugar
3. Cornish Ice Cream
4. Milk

Bismillah, let's begin!

We start with mangoes.

The sweeter, the better!

Take 2 sweet Mangoes.

Remove the skin and stone. Slice the flesh up. We like to do this a few hours before Iftar and leave the mango in the fridge. It helps keep the milkshake super cold.

Then, grab a jug blender.

And, throw in the mango pieces.

Such a beautiful sight!

Next, caster sugar. This sugar is finer than granulated so will blend up better.

The sugar is completely to taste and will depend on how sweet the mangoes are.

I like to put in 2 tablespoons Caster Sugar.

This is going to be good!

Next, ice cream. We would normally use vanilla but this year, have been loving Cornish as it gives the drink a little extra creaminess.

Take 200 grams Cornish Ice Cream.

And, add to the blender.

Also, before the milk comes pouring in, a quick dessert idea for you. Sliced mango chunks + Cornish ice cream - do it! It's the simplest summer sweet treat!

Speaking of milk, I used semi-skimmed but any will do.

Let's pour in 500 ml Milk. Again, you can do more or less depending on what texture you want the milkshake!

Now, it's lid on and let's blend!

Blend everything together until smooth ...

... the most beautiful colour!

Pour into a jug and enjoy straight away!

This is the ultimate summer drink and I hope you give it a go soon!

Put on repeat throughout Ramadan! Enjoy!
