Baked Chocolate Mousse

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for an amazing Baked Chocolate Mousse. This is something that would be perfect for a special occasion or any occasion when you feel like indulging yourself. The great thing about the mousse is that a small slice will be enough for each person, so it lasts a while.
The recipe contains no flour or other products with gluten, so it is great for people with a gluten intolerance, of which there are a few in my family.
Once again, this is a really easy recipe.

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Butter
2. Milk Chocolate
3. Light Brown Sugar
4. Eggs
5. Salt
6. Icing Sugar

To start, preheat your oven to Gas Mark 4 or 180 degrees.

Take a round cake tin and line it with greaseproof paper.

Take a pan of water and let it simmer.

Next, take 12 ounces of milk chocolate pieces. If you prefer, you can use dark chocolate.

And, take 9 ounces of butter.

Place both chocolate and butter into a heatproof bowl.

Set the bowl over the pan of simmering water, and melt the butter and chocolate until it's smooth and glossy.

Whilst the chocolate is melting, weigh out 9 ounces of brown sugar.

 And, take 5 eggs.

 Separate the egg whites ..

 ... From the egg yolks.

Using an electric mixer, whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt, until soft peaks form, and set aside.

Once the chocolate and butter are melted, take the bowl off the heat and allow to cool slightly.

Once cooled slightly, stir in the brown sugar.

Next, add the egg yolks, one at a time.

Now, add the chocolate mixture to the whisked egg whites.

Fold the chocolate into the egg whites gradually.

Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin.

The mixture will look runny, but don't worry. This is because there is no flour in it.
Bake the cake in the preheated oven Gas Mark 4 for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, remove from the oven. The mousse should be firm on the top but the middle should still wobble when you shake the tin. Be careful not to overcook the mousse, or else it will turn into a cake.
Let the mousse cool completely, and then dust with icing sugar.

And serve! Serve in small portions as this is a very rich mousse. Serve with single cream, if preferred.

I hope you enjoy this recipe.

Wasalaam!
