Chocolate Orange Biscuits.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

These are biscuits. Not cookies.
These Chocolate Orange Biscuits are good, old-fashioned biscuits.
They have all the flavour of an orange but without any of the moisture. Chunks of sweet milk chocolate make them more awesome - they're a keeper! Crisp and reliable, they won't fall apart and are perfect to dunk in a cup of hot tea. Unlike homemade cookies.

Don't get me wrong. I love me some homemade cookies. But they're not very good dunkers. What's the difference between a cookie and a biscuit anyway? Cookies are soft and biscuits are crisp? Is that it?

I think it is the dunk factor though.

Dunking a homemade cookie into a hot tea? No way. Maybe a quick dunk but anything longer than a second or two could have you running to the kitchen for a spoon, trying to fish out those soggy crumbs. I cannot stand those soggy crumbs.
I realize that there has been way too much talk of dunking in this post already but can I alert you to this website and this article. And, can I just say, I agree with the nation.

P.s. Whilst I was writing part of this post, I was listening to this video. I hope it benefits you, Insha Allah.

A Simple List of Ingredients:
1. Caster Sugar
2. Butter
3. Plain Flour
4. Baking Powder
5. Milk Chocolate
6. Oranges

Bismillah, let's begin!

Grab all your ingredients and let's bake. Also, pre-heat the oven to 180C or Gas Mark 4. And, grease and line two baking trays.

Into a bowl, measure out 175 grams Caster Sugar.

Next, butter! I used unsalted and I let it soften for a few hours before hand. If you haven't softened it, heat in the microwave for a few seconds.

Pop 125 grams Butter, softened into a bowl.

I was a little lazy and used an electric mixer but you can mix by hand too.

Let the butter and sugar mix together until well creamed and combined.

Next, take 225 grams Plain Flour.

Add 2 level teaspoons Baking Powder.

Sift both the flour and baking powder into the butter bowl.

Next, take 75 grams Milk Chocolate, chopped. You can use dark chocolate too, if you want.

Add it to the bowl.

Next, zest 2 Oranges.

Add to the bowl.

Next, squeeze out a little juice from said oranges.

Measure out 1 tablespoon Orange Juice.

And, pour it on in.

And, that's all the ingredients done!

Mix together until you get a crumbly mixture. When you press the mix together with your fingers, it should stick together.

Lightly flour a work surface.

And, throw on your crumbly dough.

Bring it together with your hands. At first, it will seem impossible but keep going and the warmth of your hands will help bring the dough together.

Once together, get ready to roll.

Roll the dough out to 1cm thick.

Using a 5cm biscuit cutter, cut out rounds. If cracks appear, don't be afraid to press them back together.

Place the biscuits onto the lined trays.

Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

If you're unsure as to whether they're baked, flip one over and check the bottom. It should be a golden brown colour.

Let the biscuits cool on the trays for 5 minutes and then onto a wire rack they go!

Finally, sprinkle them with Caster Sugar.

Store them in an airtight container and get dunking!
